Patient’s Story
In the wee hours of 8th January when world was sleeping, team of experienced Doctors of SAMRA Hospital struggled to rejuvenate the shattered life of patient Lilawati. Doctors of SAMRA Hospital were taken with surprise when they received a patient in Emergency ward with a Spear piercing through and through her body in upper half of Abdomen. Without panicking patient was managed in the Emergency ward and then shifted to ICU.
The patient Mrs. Lilawati Rana, aged about 26yrs/female, resident of Kailali, Nepal was admitted in a critical state as a case of injury by a long spear with a bamboo attached to its rear. The wood was cut by the villagers to make it convenient to travel to Lucknow.
She was hit midback and the spear passed across the back then through the abdomen to emerge at the upper abdomen near the sternum. It measured around one and a half feet.
On arrival patient was in the state of shock, resuscitation was done successfully and was operated upon by the team of doctors led by Dr. M. A. Siddiqui, Dr. M. Subhan ,Dr. A. Abbas and others.
Operation was done with the highest degree of alert to save the life of the patient.
During surgery it was noted that after entering through the back the spear passed through the left lobe of liver and damaged it which was subsequently repaired. During operation heavy bleeding was witnessed which was taken care of.
Patient recovered very well after surgery and anaesthesia and was later shifted to the Intensive care unit (ICU). Patient was doing well in ICU and was shifted towards.
Patient was discharged from Samra Hospital on 21st January in excellent condition.
